More details from petition creator

The ACAA is a grassroots frontline charity based in Hounslow and established in 2001 by Dr Nasimi to promote integration and British values among refugees through education, counselling, advice and events. We have an open door policy and our services are open to all residents. Hounslow and West London is host to the largest Afghan population in the UK.

We have been leasing an office based at 169 Staines Road, TW3 3LL from May 2017. We receive more than 300 drop-ins every week. Our premises are not sufficient to meet the needs of our beneficiaries. We are open from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 9pm. We hold our Free Legal Advice surgery in our Kitchen which is not an appropriate setting to ensure confidentiality and privacy. People go to the bathroom through the kitchen or use the kitchen itself to make tea or coffee which makes the clients feel very uncomfortable. We spend more than £50,000 a year renting different premises to hold our activities. We have over 25 volunteers and dozens of clients everyday and the space is not enough to accommodate for our volunteering programme. Sometimes we do not have any space to take interviews and are forced to conduct them in the main room where volunteers and staff are seated. There is no space available for one to one meetings. Our office also has no space for women to speak alone with staff which discourages them from attending the office for help.

We are therefore writing this important petition to ask Hounslow Council to provide us with adequate space to run our services more efficiently for the most vulnerable and marginalised people in Hounslow who have come to rely on our services for help and guidance.
