Petition update 2 from the council, 13 July 2011

Petition Update from June Borough Council meeting.

The Mayor introduced the petition for consideration and invited Mssrs Murray,Barry and Knight to speak to it.

Mr Murray explained that they represented residents in the Grove Park and Strand on the Green area who were opposed to the introduction of a proposed controlled parking zone there. There was great support for the petition opposing the plans and after being submitted to the Mayor, the matter of the proposals was discussed at a recent meeting of the Chiswick Area Planning Committee which rejected the plans for the parking zone.

Mr Murray therefore concluded by thanking the Committee for listening to residents and commended it as a goodexample of democracy in action.

The Mayor then invited Councillor Ed Mayne, the Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Regulatory Services, to speak to it.

Councillor Mayne noted the comments made by Mr Murray and his colleagues, and thanked them, as well as noting that the matter had now been fully resolved.

Following the comments made by Councillor Mayne, the Mayor put the matter to the vote and it was RESOLVED –That the response be noted
