Re: Dismal state of Quakers Lane, the Pedestrian Railway Bridge and the surrounding area leading to the rear entrance to Marlborough Primary School. Our main concern is Health and Safety for the general public and most importantly for the hundreds of children and parents/carers who use this access to Marlborough Primary School on a daily basis. The main issues are: • Fallen leaves, rarely cleared, especially during Autumn/Winter, making the ground very slippery. In addition any gritting on ice or snow will have little effect when leaves are still present. • Rubbish (e.g. general waste, dog excrement, sex and drug paraphernalia etc.) has been left for extensive periods. • Fly tipping reached extremes; there have been mattresses, chairs, shelves, sofa beds, TVs and tins of paint being dumped on Quakers Lane • Nettles on the North side of the Bridge, overgrown branches and bushes sticking out through the fence causing a lot of aggravation, especially the children. • Both sides of the Bridge have bottle-neck access, making it almost impossible for people with pushchairs and small children to pass by.

Our requests are for: • Regular cleaning of the general waste and the slippery leaves on the stairs and the surrounding paths • The installation of bins • Fly tippers to be prosecuted and a CCTV camera installed as a deterrent and also for the safety of individuals using this access. In addition we would like a prompt response to clearing the rubbish left by these fly tippers. • Regular trimming of trees and bushes and clearing of stinging nettle beds. This would greatly improve bottle neck access, especially if a gravelled or paved area could be established to use as a buggy park.
